License Activation

Licenses are delivered as a Kubernetes Secret in the kymaros-system namespace:

kubectl create secret generic kymaros-license \
--namespace kymaros-system \
--from-literal=tier=team \
--from-literal=key=KYM-TEAM-<your-key> \
--from-literal=expires=2026-12-31

The controller reads the kymaros-license Secret on startup and validates the license using HMAC. No outbound network call is made. License validation is entirely offline — suitable for air-gapped environments.

Trial keys use the format KYM-TRIAL-xxx and activate the full Team feature set for the trial period.

Pricing FAQ

What counts as one cluster?

One cluster is one Kubernetes API server. A cluster with multiple node pools, availability zones, or namespaces still counts as one cluster. Multi-cluster licensing (Enterprise) covers any number of clusters registered with Kymaros.

Is there a free trial of Team features?

Yes. Contact [email protected] to receive a trial license key. Trial keys are time-limited and activate the full Team feature set, including compliance page, CSV export, regression alerts, and 90-day dashboard history.

What happens if my license expires?

The controller continues to run and perform restore validation. The dashboard reverts to Community tier limits (7-day history). Commercial features (compliance page, exports, regression alerts) are gated until the license is renewed. No data is lost — reports remain in the cluster indefinitely; only the dashboard display window is affected.

Can I downgrade from Team to Community?

Yes. Remove the kymaros-license Secret and restart the controller. Kymaros reverts to Community tier. Historical reports in the cluster are not deleted, but the dashboard will only show the most recent 7 days.

Are there discounts for non-profits, academic institutions, or open-source projects?

Yes. Contact [email protected]. We offer meaningful discounts for qualifying organizations.

Is there an annual billing option?

Yes. Annual billing is available at a discount equivalent to two months free. Contact sales for details.

Does pricing cover support?

Community tier has community support via GitHub Discussions. Team tier includes email support with a 2 business day SLA. Enterprise includes a dedicated Slack channel and a 4-hour SLA for critical issues.
